ARTISTRY

Having lived and worked between London, Nashville and the South West of England, founders Chris Turpin and Stephanie Ward have spent much of their lives recording, writing and touring internationally.

Their work has unfolded across stages, studios and sessions around the world — often moving between genres, scenes and continents — and has been shaped as much by collaboration as by authorship.

Across the years, they’ve performed, billed and sessioned alongside many of their heroes – a wide spectrum of artists across a wide spectrum of genres including:

Willy Nelson, Allison Krauss, Emmy Lou Harris, Greta Van Fleet, Brandi Carlisle, John Prine, Tom Jones, Lucinda Williams, Gregory Alan Isakov, Gary Clark Jr, Motorhead, Kings Of Leon, Andra Day, Lucinda William’s, Little Feat, CeeLo Green, Geese, The Avett Brothers, Warren Haynes, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jorja Smith, Marcus King, Tommy Emmanuel, Foy Vance, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Blackberry Smoke, Dweezil Zappa and Mos Def and many others.

In the studio, their work has been shaped through close collaboration with a number of award-winning producers, including:

T-Bone Burnett (Robert Plant/ Allison Krauss / Elvis Costello / Roy Orbison), Ethan Johns (Kings Of Leon / Laura Marling / Ray Lamontagne), Cam Blackwood (George Ezra / London Grammar / Florence & The Machine), Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran / Shawn Mendes) and Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton / Lady Ga Ga / Jason Isbell), Mike Crossey (Artcric Monkeys / YUNGBLUD / The 1975).

Recording has taken place in rooms that shaped how they listen and work, including:

Abbey Road (London), Ocean Way (Los Angeles), The Village (Los Angeles), Real World Studio (UK), BBC Maida Vale (UK)

Their recorded work has received international press support from publications such as Rolling Stone, NPR, The Independent, Classic Rock Magazine, Guitarist Magazine and Guitar World, alongside regular radio support across the UK, Europe and North America.

As artists, they’ve appeared on major television broadcasts and performed at internationally recognised festivals and venues including Newport Folk Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, SXSW, Bonnaroo, The Roundhouse, Irving Plaza and The Ryman Auditorium, while maintaining consistent headline touring schedules across Europe, the UK and North America.

They’ve been recognised through multiple International Songwriting Award placements and nominations, featured on the covers of Guitarist and Classic Rock Magazine, and named among Guitar World’s top guitarists of the year.

This studio exists not in spite of that history —

but because of it.
